Veneers

Smile Design Estetika analiza i osmijehaVeneers are dental restorations which only cover the front, visible surface of the tooth. They are used for correcting esthetic imperfections. Veneer placement requires minimal reduction of the front tooth surface (0.3 – 0.5 mm) and certain types of veneers (No-Prep veneers) require no drilling at all. When necessary, the degree of reduction corresponds to natural enamel wear, caused by the consumption of acidic drinks and foods or inappropriate brushing. Sanja Vuic Private Dental Practice uses IPS Empress glass-ceramic veneers, as well as extremely thin feldspathic porcelain veneers, which are priced higher due to their precise and demanding production in both the laboratory and the practice.

If you seek to rejuvenate your worn teeth, look no further – veneers are the perfect solution for you!

Indications for placing veneers are very limited:

  • Changing the color of a tooth – Naturally white teeth that are well adapted to our skin tone, eye and hair color make our smile beautiful and harmonious. Teeth may be inherently dark or become pigmented over time: enamel wear reveals the color of our dentin which is somewhat darker. Regular consumption of colored foods and drinks may also cause stained teeth. Dental veneers are extremely thin and translucent, which is why they allow natural tooth color from beneath to shine through. Veneers can make teeth up to 3-4 shades brighter. In our practice, the doctors will estimate whether veneers are a good solution for you.
  • Changing the size and shape of a tooth – Irregularly shaped, small, thin, slanted or teeth whose length doesn’t correspond to the overall harmony of the face can be corrected using veneers.
  • Smile rejuvenation – Age changes the appearance of our teeth and smile: our teeth become worn out, shorter and flatter, the bite appears drooped (corners of the lips turning downward), and the enamel wear makes the teeth look darker. Veneers restore the lost enamel volume, brighten teeth and modify their shape. The occlusal edges of maxillary central incisors should be at least 1-2 mm visible while resting.

If you can relate to any of these indications, perhaps it is time to start considering veneers!

Why Is Ceramics Used?

Dental porcelain (ceramics) is an ideal material for many dental esthetic procedures, such as veneers, crowns and bridges. Ceramics is biocompatible, which means that there are no allergic reactions, and the patients say it feels incredibly natural. Dental ceramics can be colored and pigmented with a broad range of natural tooth shades to make it suitable for every patient. Although patients often request very bright (white) teeth, the ideal color for a particular face depends on numerous factors which need to be taken into account while producing the veneers. The porcelain used for creating dental restorations can be shaped whichever we like. Cosmetic dentistry uses ceramics that can wonderfully imitate the natural tooth thanks to its superior esthetic characteristics: translucence, transparency and light reflection.

  1. Visit – Examination and consultation with the doctor. Be sincere and share your expectations, bring along the images of smiles you like. During this visit, the doctor will take your dental status, perform complete oral cavity examination, analyze your panoramic dental X-rays, take a set of photographs necessary for smile evaluation and dental impressions according to which studio models for the next phase will be produced.
  2. Visit – Creating a MockUp in the patient’s mouth based on a WaxUp – a plaster model of future veneers made in a dental lab. Now the patient can get a sense of how the future veneers are going to look and discuss everything with the doctor. The doctor will also estimate the “pink esthetics”: gum contours, as well as their left and right symmetry. If it is necessary, the gums are recontoured using a laser. This visit can either end in tooth prepping and taking dental impressions or booking the next appointment. The impressions are sent to the dental lab, where the production of veneers can last up to 2 weeks.

Tip: Take the time to visit your dentist regularly and dedicate yourself to your new appearance – you will not have to go through this again for at least another 10 years!

  1. Visit – The veneers modelled in the lab are fitted onto the teeth. Their fit, shape and color are observed and, if necessary, minimal adjustments are made. When everything is perfect, the veneers are ready for adhesive cementing.
  2. Visit – After etching dental enamel to enable firm bonding, the veneer is placed onto the tooth using light pressure and ultraviolet light. Sanja Vuic Private Dental Practice aims to achieve wow-effect, your amazement!

Feldspathic veneer placement does not involve fittings and tryouts – everything needs to fit perfectly and get placed during a single visit!

After Veneer Placement

Once the veneers have been cemented, it is important to continue visiting your dentist regularly. The durability of veneers is estimated to around 10 years, but with proper oral hygiene and regular checkups, they can last significantly longer.

Why Are Veneers Important for Smile Makeovers?

A smile makeover is much more than simply restoring a chipped or pigmented tooth. The idea is to completely transform the patient’s smile in order to restore oral health and functionality, as well as increase their physical appeal. This calls for detailed analysis and case planning, while considering the patient’s face shape, tooth color and medical history. Thanks to the development of modern dental methods and materials, veneers can help achieve a beautiful, attractive smile without aggressive drilling and tooth extractions.

What Is the Price of Veneers?

The price depends on the number of veneers used to create the new smile. Veneer treatment frequently includes the front 6 (Social Six), often even 10 teeth in a row. The average price of a dental veneer is 3.000 – 3.500 HRK (400 – 500 EUR). Veneer prices vary depending on the country, as well as the skill of the doctor and their dental team.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

With proper maintenance, oral hygiene and regular checkups, dental veneers can last up to 10-15 years. The durability of No-prep veneers is even longer – around 15-20 years. Regular twice-a-year checkups are important for monitoring their condition (staining caused by food or drinks is possible).
