Apicoectomy is a small surgical procedure whereby a tooth’s root tip, along with the inflamed bone tissue, is removed. It is performed under local anesthesia.

Apicoectomy is done only when endodontic treatment is not possible (e.g. when a ceramic crown is covering the problematic root or in cases in which a dental post is cemented into the root canal). The recovery period following the procedure is very short.
