Esthetic fillings are fillings whose color, shape and function imitate the natural tooth. They are “white fillings” that can be made directly in the patient’s mouth using composite, or indirectly, in the laboratory, using ceramic materials. The materials that we use are new-generation composites, such as IPS Empress Direct, Tetric Evo Ceram Bulk Fill, GC Gradia and Gaenial.
Esthetic fillings are made of composite resin, which is comprised of microscopic particles. This material first appeared in dentistry in 1960 and was initially used on front teeth only. Since then, composite has been perfected and can now be successfully placed on back teeth as well.
